Privacy

This page is short because there isn't much to tell. Promter has no server, no account and receives nothing you write.

But there's one part that works differently from the rest, and it's further down: the website.

The app

Promter runs entirely on your device.

  • Your scripts, projects and settings live in your own browser's storage. They never pass through any server.
  • There is no account, login, email, password or user identifier.
  • Microphone audio is analyzed locally, only to detect whether there's a human voice. It isn't recorded, isn't transcribed and isn't sent anywhere.
  • The video you record is created on your device and saved by you. There is no upload.
  • No third-party fonts, analytics, embeds or pixels. Nothing inside the app calls another origin.

The only time the app connects to anything is to check for an update, when you're online. No data of yours travels with that check.

If you want to verify any of these claims, open DevTools and look at the network tab. Or turn off the wi-fi and keep working.

The website

The site has no analytics, no pixel, no tracking cookie and no third-party fonts. No part of it calls another origin.

It also has no forms anywhere. No signup, no newsletter, no waiting list. Nothing for you to fill in and nothing for me to keep.

The site runs on its own server. Like any web server, it keeps a technical access log with IP address, date and page requested. That exists for security and for investigating errors, not to measure anything and not for anyone.

That log doesn't go to any analytics tool, isn't cross-referenced with anything and involves no cookies.

Your data is yours, and so is the responsibility

You export whenever you want, by file or by QR code.

You delete whenever you want, by clearing your browser data. And worth knowing: that erases everything, with no recovery. The same mechanism that keeps anyone else out of your scripts also means nobody can restore them for you. Not even me.

There's no data deletion request to file, because there's no data of ours to delete.

If anything changes

When a cloud version exists, it will collect data, because syncing requires that. That version will be optional and paid, and will come with its own explanation. The Promter you use today keeps working exactly the same way.

Changes to this page show up in the changelog.
