That's the whole answer, but it deserves an explanation, because "free" usually comes with an asterisk. Here it doesn't.
What we don't pay for
Promter runs entirely on your device. No server holding your scripts, no database with your account, no speech recognition API billing by the minute, no AI model billing by the request.
When you use Promter, it costs us nothing. That isn't generosity, it's architecture: there's no account to maintain because there's no account.
What we're not going to do
No ads. No selling data, and there'd be no way to anyway: we don't receive any. No watermark pushing you toward a paid plan. No script limit. No 7-day trial.
What exists in Promter today stays free. That isn't a vague promise. It follows from the fact that keeping this running doesn't cost anything per user.
So how does this pay for itself one day
Being 100% local solves privacy and creates real limits:
- Your scripts don't sync between devices on their own
- Two people can't work on the same script
- There's no automatic backup anywhere
Those things require a server, and servers cost money. So they'll be paid, along with whatever comes after: AI features for text, thumbnail generation, video editing, content planning.
You'll get to choose. And if you never want any of it, the Promter you use today stays yours, free, offline.
The honest part
This is a one-person project. It exists because I record my own videos, use a mirror rig and got tired of the tools that were out there.
The free version isn't bait: it's the product. If it's good enough to make you want what comes next, great. If it isn't, it's still good enough to keep using exactly as it is.
